I think though that we do need to value the artists time though and maybe a nice way to do it would be the modder can post her mod and post the art that they would like, then the artist could look at the mod and even the author and see if they want to support the project. But the modding forums are weird sometimes and so many posts are in between right, so that's why I keep coming back to a seperate forum, that is just specifically for the one case, because I'm sure that a lot of modders would love to be able to show off their hard work in a shiny wrapper and that would make it a nice one stop shop for that purpose. (I think there needs to be a bit of restructuring in a few other places too, LOL)

So this is my point though https://www.vintagestory.at/forums/forum/34-mod-requestsideas/ My case was just if it's ok to expect the modders to produce code and models and everything out of the kindness of their heart, and /or commision work, why couldn't we have an equivalent forum titled art-requestideas and be able to have a place to request help from people as well. You are correct that some people do try and take advantage but I assure you I have had my share of PMs asking for free total conversions of the game I guess I'm just hoping that there are artists with the same sense of sharing and giving that would like to contribute to mods and I would like for them to have an official place to exist.
  3. Just sticking my nose in, I started using the google robot to draw my thumbnails because I really can't draw but it was wildly unpopular for many reasons listed here already. So I did what I thought was the next best step and I started looking for someone to do art for me and the honest truth is, donations like, never happen OK, like never, and the artist, a real human who needs food charges 100 dollars to do your images for you, very cheap for 5 hours work, but still, the problem is where does the money come from? So my only remaining option is an ugly screenshot and some text from Gimp. And so that's what I do now. If someone wanted to make a real difference how about this, maybe some artists or artistically capable people could volunteer their skills for free to the developers that freely make them all their favorite mods. Maybe we have a whole forum for artists offering their services to modders, modellers too!!! Does that seem fair?

  9. Here you go I will be packaging and pushing this one along with a bunch of others after they finalize the official release. But you throw it, it requires you make lengths of knotted climbing ropes you cast them from copper or bronze in their clay molds, they have normal tool durability, my model is a little off right now and there's a coupe little tweaks and issues but it totally works and I'm playing with it regular use already.   11. This mod will release with the update or very soon after. You can press and hold K to wait, or another button if you like and time will pass much more quickly, got 3 hours left before morning just hold K for a few seconds and it's morning. Use it to make cool effects in your YouTube videos maybe?!?!? Anyways, I made it for me and I use it and I like it so I figured at least someone else out there might like it Check the super quick video! The CC on the video says 'buy it' at the end, obviously robot mistake!!!

  13. Ok, I'm barely even lying this time... I was stuck with the modelling part, I was having a hard time understanding and using the VS Model Maker utility so I had to spend some time rewriting that program, so now the model maker is modernized and web based and working well for me I was able to start doing some real modelling and I think I will have a release up by the weekend (Sound effects and speed optimizations are done too)

I'm working on putting all the parts together to build a terrible server where the players are forced to live in hiding and fear, it's gonna be a hoot But I thought to myself, hey self... why do the players get a free pass just by running into their house?   15. Your image must be exactly 480 pixels by 480 pixels and when you upload that image the dropdowns will populate with your image

I wanted to make an easy way to make roads between my house and the traders and stuff like that so here it is, my solution I would love for any feedback on the mod and I will update this post as soon as it's released on the mod db, I'm just putting the final touches and art and stuff but ya, this one turned out kind of neat I think.
  17. I just wanted to pop in and apologize for the lateness, I said a week and that came and went! This is turning out to be a little tougher than I first anticipated, it does work and it could be usable now but with the new update coming out I think I'm just gonna keep working on it a little longer and get it updated for the new version when it releases.   18. I've seen this one around https://mods.vintagestory.at/show/mod/29767 Otherwise this could be a chance for you to try your hand at modding. I'm serious, this kind of mod doesn't require any real programming, just .json files and models and textures and stuff. The reason I suggest it mostly is that if you are experienced in your field then who better to produce the mod you know better than anyone what should be in it. You can look into the mod I just linked you even, unzip it and look at the folders inside, they will for sure just be like textures, shapes if they make their own models, but very straightforward and the best part is, the community will have your back if you have any questions! I assure you if you spend a few hours modelling and texturing your howlite and then you actually get to place it in a glass display case in your house in game you will be having a good time (I'm allowed to pressure you to become a modder cause you came to the modding forums, LMAO )
  19. In the 90's learning to program we learned a saying K.I.S.S. (Keep it simple stupid) In your situation I would suggest logging out in a safe area that you will be safe to load in next time rather than writing code and adding even more mods to your impressive collection. (Maybe have a snack in game before you log out to prevent starving to death in the 5 minutes it takes to load )
  20. Shhh, this is a secret project If you don't mind waiting another week or so I'll probably have an early release of this on the mod db, for sure on my website before that. This can basically go forever high and low because I'm just checking if there is a shaft above and below the one we're currently attached to, so, ya all the way up a mountain will work. I'm trying to work on smoothing out the ride and then I'll do some real modelling and texturing and there will be control buttons, I won't make you type

I don't know your server or if they have a tool to make it easy or not but you have a config file named serverconfig.json on your server, not scary just a text file and in that config file you will find a place called WorldName or maybe just World, but if you change that name and save your config you will be in a new world next time you start. Now please anyone reading this is old probably out of date off the top of my head sort of thing so, correct me if I'm a dirty liar face but I think that's about all there is to it.
  22. For simplicity sake I think that everything you asked for is already available through the standard interface. When you are in the world list screen, click the little pencil icon beside your world, many options are changeable right there, go into survival options for animals etc. and temporal options for the storms and change them to meet your current requirements and, if after winter you decide the temporal storms should start then go back in and make the change back! Make sure to save your changes

  25. I have sharks... horrible terrible RUST SHARKS, they are psychotic killers and they can smell anything that enters the water for a great distance. They kill any animal or seraph that enters their domain. They attack boats as well. They spawn in groups of 2-5 and they are very fast in the water, they want to kill you so bad they will launch out of the water and beach themselves for a chance to eat you or a poor passing by bear... I have a smaller freshwater version as well so jumping around in ponds or picking cattails can be a death sentence. They also have a terrible mechanical scream when they attack you, because they weren't bad enough, I thought they should haunt your dreams too Now the deal is I can't distribute this mod because I am borrowing another persons model for personal use. If anyone wants it I could post my mod minus the other persons models and you could copy the model yourself and zip the mod??? I could post exact instructions. OR... If you are capable with the modelling tool and want to donate a shark model I would post the mod and totally put your name all over the project Let me know
