  1. That's the spirit! My world is always on fire... clear those lines of sight... harvest the animals that couldn't get out of the way... epic
  2. I second this! I've done very long "roads" thru mountains, across plains, lakes, etc. Takes a loooong time to do but I play this game to relax. When all is said and done, the speed enhancement is well worth it.
  3. Sounds like some dates I've had...
  4. I have not noticed anything too crazy in my 1.21 worlds... though they are crawling out of caves quite a bit...
  5. I always start my world with the option to pick these types of things up without glue... more fun for me that way... love that the game allows this type of flexibility. There might be a command to modify your world to allow this...
  6. Thank... you. You shouldn't have. No, really... Hate to say it, but I already cheat to get around the Eidolon. It's just too frustrating for me.
  7. I would think that using the full color map would help you find things easier... I don't use it for that reason.
  8. I'm an older (1st gen) gamer who was around before the days of Steam... yes when dinosaurs roamed... You are spot on here ==> I fall into this trap too, but don't hesitate to buy from and support indie developers who are bold enough to break the "ball and chain" of the marriage we have with Steam. I wish more would do so! Enjoy
  9. Pro Tip: Trenches (animal pits) are your friend 3 deep 2 wide, as long as you want for wolves... have them chase you... jump over it... meat, hide and bones for free... Great for hunting too... Have fun!
  10. I always play as Commoner... I've never understood the fixation on class in games like this... it's like shields in a space game... everyone gets mad if you don't have them. VS has an excellent progression mechanic based on what you do/create and the time you spend doing that gets its reward in the end. It's simplicity without shoe-horning buffs and de-buffs that everyone argues about. As long as I can just be Common, I'll be happy.
  11. To give a different perspective, I enjoy a more hardcore VS experience and don't like the full color map because it's kind of a cheat... without it, I am forced to visually search for clay, peat, etc. I hope you get back into VS and can enjoy the game again... it's great however you like playing it.
  12. It looks like 1.21.0 pre-3 has this issue... I reverted back to 1.21.0 pre-2 and it went away... I have noticed this is listed as a bug on Discord with a note it will be fixed in the next update.
  13. True, though I like to catch what falls into the trench around my compound...
  14. My biggest beginner tips are: 1. Dig trenches and lead bears/wolves into them... easy peazy... 2. Use the same trenches to chase herds of game into for either food or domestication. 3. stack poles of dirt on each side of the trench so you can find it from a distance (great when you are being chased in a panic) 4. dig a trench around your base once you start keeping animals, etc. that you want to protect. 5. liberally sprinkle ladders in your trenches... just in case... Then, non-trench related Consider burning down large areas of brush & trees where you want better visibility. (the better to see you with my dear...)

    1.21.0

Great, thank you for the heads up...
  16. I don't like finding too much loot in ruins... just enough to tease me into digging around the next ruin. I can understand beds, etc. that are ruined and not usable... you need "something" in ruins to provide a setting... btw, there are beds, etc. which are usable. So, less is more... making that rare find even more exciting.

I've been adding bug reports on Discord... fyi

You could join the cadre of the willing and help test the pre-releases... That would give you your answer too. Enjoy!

    As a Whole

That's how I play... I'm always slow to "level up" because I like to wander the map and explore. Building shelter at the end of a day and hearing that cooking pot bubble... that's the life for me.
  20. Exactly this. Thank you
  21. I'd like to see the knapster mod (or a feature like it) incorporated into the game. It's a QOL mod I have the hardest time playing without and new updates do break it. It still forces you to put in the time for knapping, but for the dexterity challenged among us it reduces the grind of the mini-game. The creator of the mod is a good person, but I'd hate to stop playing new versions of VS if the creator didn't update it.
  22. I appreciate the sounds being frequent as a (gamey) way to know there are animals around. If everything was much more silent it would make hunting/tracking wounded animals, etc. harder and might be less fun. If we were going full realism, then every breath I take or twig I step on should sound like an avalanche... LOL Also, in my experience, deer will hunker down just as much as other animals depending on cover, heat and time of day.
  23. It's funny that it's still a block game but it builds captivating visuals... the mind is an odd place...
  24. What a wonderful thing to share with her. Enjoy!
  25. This is an important piece of progression... once you have the two modes of the pick figured out it opens up the world of mining in a big way. It was cornfusing for me at first but it's worth the effort to learn it and exploit the world for all it's giblets! Rock and Stone!
