  1. An one-body dwarf fortress, very interesting! It is quite possible if one can farm and plant trees underground, with some mods' help. Something like modify the worldgen to ensure some soil spawn underground is necessary. Or we can mitigate by some minimum exploration above ground (fro tree and soil at least) maybe.
  2. Oh, the Balearic slingers, remind me of the old days with Rome Total War(the original one, not 2, not the revamp). Those dudes, together with the Rhodes archers, are solid mercenaries for the starting Rome armies in the game.
  3. Well... You may want to try the wiki page about the world configuration Speaking of rivers, the vanilla setting has no way to generate anything similar to a river. You'd better get the mod "River".
  4. I am sure there is a mod implemented that...
  5. From what I saw from the wiki before, the spawn location of those creatures is solely about the conditions set in the world generation, which is not changed by planting trees. Surely the criteria probably has changed over updates, but last time when I checked in 1.20.8, it stays as it was. Have you installed any mods about spawning?
  6. This is BELL. This is diving BELL Hopefully, there won't be this day soon, as there are no water drifters for now.
  7. Looks like some files are missing. Have you tried the fixing mode?
  8. Well, let me try my wits to explain this. 1. -10 outside at about 4 pm likely means around -18 at 4 am, so even accounting for the greenhouse, your rye will still suffer from cold damage. And crops cannot grow below 0, whether rye or pineapple, the threshold is just there to protect from cold damage, not from halting growth. 2. The difference could be due to the game simulating the temperature block by block or just some delay in the simulation(similarly, the greenhouse takes some time to validate every block's +5 temperature). With a long enough period, from my observation, every crop's growth will stunt under occasionally too low ambient temperature.
  9. It is mentioned in the cooking page on the wiki, though the time is only half a minute per 100 satiety.https://wiki.vintagestory.at/Cooking
  10. Well...if you do not know, eating a meal gives your character a time period of "satiety safe," which is why it is highly advised rather than eating raw or simply roasted if the situation allows. The time of the period depends on the satiety recovered by the meal, though the exact formula is not remembered for now, 30 minutes looks quite close to the maximum.
  11. That's why I have taken some mods to adjust not only those wooden materials (planks, branches, firewood, etc.) but also peanuts, soybeans, buckets, dough, etc.
  12. I guess that is possible, but, as you've not mentioned in your thread, why do you want the low-fertility forest floor to expand?
  13. https://wiki.vintagestory.at/Glue Glue is more like an immersion option by utility, but one can always disable the option to ignore the "repair" process.
  14. You mean like scrolling the mouse wheel out? That's weird. Have you installed any mods?
  15. The white squres look like bugged snow texture, considering you are already in winter. What is your world height? I doubt it is the default 256, considering red wood shall not generate above 180 with the default 110 sea level.
  16. Does this setup work? The raw cheese in the image is not ripening.
  17. Didn't think a three year-old topic would be dug up... If you are already into copper pro-pick, you'd be better off getting your hands on all the copper prospects first. As for bronze, just follow the existing Cassiterite and try further to see if there are better yields. Ore tends to expand tentacles from a central high yield. You do not need a lot of tin, as only around 10% of tin is in tin-bronze. Copper is still your priority before the iron stage. Do remember you need a bronze anvil to smith any iron tool, so skipping the copper anvil and going straight to a tin-bronze anvil is feasible.
  18. True. One can even plant a tree seed on Muddy Gravel, deep submerged under sea water. I tend to do so that the sticks and seeds are floating on the water surface and are easier to collect. Moving up in water is also much easier to cut the branches.
  19. From my experience, you either put the raw cheese in a cellar and get Cheddar, or the shelves are in high light level and cheese gets rotten rather than ripen. Side note, as the raw cheese is not in a cellar and will both get a rippen time and a spoiling time, and the key is get the rippen before rotten so winter may help.
  20. the key is to limit the light level and do not put the shelf in a cellar, or in other word, the air hole to the outside space breaks the room. If you aim at the cheese on the shelf shows ripening and not in a room, you are on the right way.
  21. I don't know if this is about the difference between goats and big horn sheeps, but those big horn sheeps in my pen act more like boars that just ignore me unless provoked. The wiki said gen 1 goats can be petted to stand calm, but I guess the point is to get close to react with the animal anyway. My approach to the animal pen is digging a pit in the ground with the feed trough at the bottom to lure animals in. Then I can easily stand on the overhang and feed/milk/slaughter the animals without provoking them.
  22. Welcome to the forum!@xKaedos Glad you are enjoying the pace of the game's progression. Wish you the power of flame and may the wolves' claw be away from you.
  23. As for the map "bug", the left buttons are like toggles for layers and if you toggle terrain layer the map would become blank. After all, it is mostly a terrain map. Similarly, you can toggle the waypoint, which may be the culprit of your other issue. The game treats items with different lifetime differently and will not stack those. You will need to manually stack those and mix the life-time. The red color means your home is not a valid "room", and I think the crude door is the reason as it is not "air-tight". You will need to advance to copper and get your hands on a saw to make "real" non-slack door. There is the River mod, but be warned, the default river flow speed can negate your raft/boat speed going upstream and even push unattended vessels away. Sadly, the anchor is not yet implemented and you will need to use terrain to hold your boat(or take your raft with you).
  24. Another tip, you can sneak up the animal without alerting it. Sadly, sneaking is only possible on flat land.
  25. 17-27C through the whole July? That seems a bit cool considering July is the hottest month according to wiki and also my personal experience. Currently, I am into the third summer at the end of July and the max temperature is already over 32C. And my place is full of snow everywhere before December. So if your area is not arid but with common rainfall, snow is assured.
