Personally I'm not all that bothered by how much coal it takes, I can just make more But I would like something like a limekiln, it's a sensable addition I think
-
sure but what would be the purpose of those animals?
-
sure but charred bread kinda already functiones much the same way as hard tack would I think a singular piece of fat would serve a much better purpose sealing a crock or something than being part of a single meal
-
A quiche would be fun but... that's not how pies are made in game

Hello friends, I would like to suggest an option for ice cutting, reffering to the historical practice of sawing great big blocks of ice out of lakes in winter to keep their cellars more cold to increase shelflife of their food for a little longer. Temperature and cellar mechanics are already in place so ''ice houses or iceboxes'' could easily fit in to keep the temperature slightly lower aand increase the shelflife of foods slightly. It wouldn't be a very early game mechanic because you would need a saw and of course the ice would slowly melt so it wouldn't last all year long but it would be a great addition to make your first spring fruits last juuuust a little longer and it would also add something for the player to do/look forward to in winter. Also keeping great big blocks of ice in your cellar would take up a lot of space so it would be a type of investment, giving up space in favor of having a colder cellar. Pics for reference

well personally I am not bothered by the walking animation at all, hadn't even particularly noticed it really

Hello friends, I tried searching for if people aleady suggested this but couldn't find any so here is my suggesion: I would like there to be larger cooking vessels that would let you cook more than 6 portions at a time! I personally like to stock up on resources and cook large portions all at once so a cooking pot that would let you cook 8 or 12 portions would be very convenient, more convinient for transporting into crocks too. Copper, brass, iron and other metals have been very common materials for cooking pots in history so I don't think a large metal cooking vessel would look out of place! food for thought (pun intended)

well you could stack 2 wattle gates and get pretty much the same effect, as well as using them for windows. and the fences already exist
-
You can kinda do that with most of them already, just chase them into a corner
-
I believe drying meat for jerky would require smoke of some kind, if you hang them up like that the wasps would get to it real quickly

wym? as soon as you have copper you can make everything you need for charred bread, you only need a quern and a bucket

Grain: Keeps long by itself, charred bread keeps long too Vegetables: stack up as much as possible before winter, seal meals in crocks that include them, mushrooms last long too Fruit: Sealed crocks with jam works but they don't hold all that much satiety, I prefer making wine in large quantities, honey doesn't spoil Protein: Fish is good if you can find enough not frozen water, eggs are easier I think, else good old hunting Dairy: Cheese

start a new game lol

I think that would make for more interesting farming personally, having to choose between harvesting the crop for food or letting it sit for longer so you can get seeds for the next harvest. As it is you can kinda just ignore most of your farm untill you happen to glance over and see the crops are grown
-
Hello friends, Crops as they are when fully grown drop 2+ items, the food and a seed to be replanted. But in the case of grain this doesn't make a lot of sense because the grain we eat IS the seed of the plant. It makes sense for vegetables to need seeds because to need a way to store them over winter so you can plant in spring but grains last long enough as it is, and for the sake of inventory management it just makes it inconvinient that the food grain and the seed are seperate items. I'd argue that at least in the case of grain the food item itse'f should be what you plant to grow more grain, this would not only save an inventory slot when building a farm early game but also make for more interesting resource management when growing your farm by having to decide how much of the harvest you replant and how much you keep for eating. what do you guys think?

If I have tin nearby I prefer tin bronze, it takes less digging and is the faster tool. The slight increase in durability that bismuth has is negligible to me. but if not I just take what I can get. the highest I can get paired with how desperate I am to find said specific ore, in practice though I rarely bother for less than ultra high. With a bit of traveling and some charred bread stored I can usually find what I'm looking for in plentiful amounts

Usually when I can't find clay for a long time I end up discovering later that I had passed clay many times before and just hadn't spotted it

Ok, poeple, let's vote... what is your voice/pitch?

fun to see so much variation in answers! -
realistically yes but personally I don't feel like that would actually add a whole lot to the game, similarly how you don't have to add grok or that you don't have to remove impurities from the clay to make it more pure. irl all those things are required to minimise breaking in the kiln but the game doesn't really deal with those. Pottery also doesn't break when you drop it and cooking pots and crucibles seem to last forever even though irl those are also prone to breaking after regular exposure to high heat.

Hello, Currently in game chickens are the only animal that drops feathers and the feathers are only really used for arrows and a quil so in practice mostly arrows, and I had some thoughts about it. Firstly, chickens can drop between 8 and 16 feathers while irl chickens only have 10 primary flight feathers, which are the feathers you'd need for arrows. You could find one with less than 10 if they end up losing one or one gets damaged or something but you wouldn't find 16 usable feathers on any bird irl. Second, irl chicken feathers aren't actually used for arrows really because they are too small. Typically feathers for arrows are goose or turkey feathers. Which brings me to my 2nd suggestion which is the inclusion of other fowl, I am probably not the first person to suggest this but I think it's a little strange chickens have a unique meat drop that no other animal has while ''redmeat'' is dropped by most other things. Other fowl would add other sources of poultry and eggs to the game and animals like cassowary could even form a threat to the player much like sheep are. Waterfowl like ducks would also be very interesting to see on the water as opposed to just fish. Different kinds of fowl could be balanced so that they produce less eggs than chickens but produce more usefull feathers or more meat so the player is incentivized to try both. Different types of feathers might also be used to craft different quality arrows. Perhaps chicken feathers might still be used for arrows but larger feathers create stronger arrows or arrows with a smaller break chance? Other uses for feathers might be: 1) Bedding (technically irl you wouldn't use flight feathers for these so you'd have to strike a balance between realism and gameplay of course) 2) Decoration obviously 3) Fertilizer
