0.975 is to match the new default.

Is landcover scale automatically 500% or does that also have to be adjusted from 100% (default 1.20) with /worldconfig oceanscale 5 to the default of 500% of 1.21?

I think that standard IT method (restart the server once more) should help. In standalone game, stopping and starting once more helped.

Took me a couple days to get around to trying that but you were right.  I had rolled back to the previous version from a backup but allowing a rebuild and restarting did correct this issue

Oh i love those fuzzy clouds! Thats probably my favourite part of this update, with the coral reefs following in tow. I hated the blocky clouds and i just turned them off completely but now i'll actually play with them!

Oh I don't mind the change, it just needs a bit of tweaking, perhaps. 🙃

I've just come up with another tweak I'd like to see after waking up from a bed.

I thought I'd place a "pelt" on the ground, as a fur rug to keep my feet warm . . . and that is high enough to again be causing me to wake up with my head in the ceiling.
It would be nice if that didn't happen.

Would it be possible to get MacOS ARM builds?
Rosetta is fine, but not the most efficient compared to running native ARM code and Apple is moving away from further Rosetta improvements as they assume developers are on ARM now.

What store are yall getting your interior deco skills from?  Cause i'd like some too.  These textures and color scheme slap.

But.  We need dedicated, shorter end tables or taller beds.  Its been a minute since ive VintageStoried but this pic has reminded me of just how STRONK BUILT our vanilla tables are.  Look at that massive fucker.  Imagine waking up and instead of lighting a candle to go piss in the middle of the night you snap your wrist in half smacking the side of this massive slab of wood.

Anyone knows when full update will be relesed? I want to start a new world, but i dont want to do it on current version and them migrate to a new one, because of mods :D Just wanna wait to get most of the mods to get updated to newest version with a game.

Ok i just read the topic... it is a stable new version, sorry all! :D

That there is the Vintage Story Battle Table(tm).  It not only serves as a table but also a portable (if small... ish) structure to protect one from the elements and sturdy enough to be used as protection (of the offensive variety) from the aggressive fauna (and things that go bump during the night) you may encounter on your travels.

Don't leave home without it.   Oh wait, that's a certain green credit card, never mind.

My main laptop is a linux-based system, also ARM

And while I do have an Intel desktop just for gaming, A.) it's not portable, and B.) BOX64 isn't quite up to the task of managing Vintage Story on this hardware.

Having an ARM-based version that can be ported to MacOS and Linux would be a benefit to a small but very thankful crowd ❤️

I tell you what, some of the small changes in this update are causing me repeated moments of happiness. So much so that I thought I'd come back here and comment against this update, even though there are newer ones out there.

Every time that I can use five buckets to work with dough or a barrel, or place three sticks on the ground in a pile is a delight.
(Yes, simple pleasures.)

Feature: Added dedicated piles for beeswax, cattails, papyrus, cloth, bones, sticks and flax fibers
Tweak: Buckets now stack to 5
Feature: Ground storage tweaks
Added several more piles, including: flax twine, leather, fat, windmill sails, pulp, thatch, and rods

Thank you.

Regarding this tweak:

Tweak: Improve irregularity of mob spawning. Remove mob spawning very far below/above the player. Increase chance of mob spawn near rifts

I'm seeing drifters spawning near rifts on the surface in broad daylight. Was the light requirement nurfed?

What are the new mob spawning mechanics?

Daytime rift spawns is a bug created in 1.20 when new mobs were introduced and tweaked.

this is intentional. Mobs should also spawn during daytime, albeit at a slower rate

Interesting. 🤔 This feature does make rift activity have a lot more impact and actually feel dangerous. I almost died in the forest while out hunting the other day, thanks to a couple of sneaky daywalkers.

I don't like this change. I've been trying to mod bowtorns to retreat in the daytime. I don't want more rotbeats in daylight.

I just think supernatural-in-darkness is the right aesthetic.

Obvs you guys will do what you're going to do, and I'll try to mod it to work the way I want, but I'm just registering my dislike.

(Also, I've now seen the daytime rotbeasts, as opposed to what I said in reply to @Maelstrom)

Changed grammar because I thought I was replying to Thorfin. Apologies Tyron.

I had my suspicions, but with all the tweaking for the new beasts figured the daytime rift spawn was a bug.

It'll still making you soaking wet, but it delays the process. E.g. it will take 6.6x times longer with the straw hat. We might need to boost the numbers if the effect is too small.

After much play time using both a Straw Hat, and the even better Bamboo hat, the weather protection bonus is just fine.

If anything, the effect may be a little too strong for an entry level item. Since having a hat, I effectively haven't needed to worry about the "Soaking Wet" status from regular play in the rain at all. Admittedly I'm in full fur, but definitely if this status ever needs tuning, it would be downward and not upward. And this amount of weather protection given to a harder to obtain hat.

Thanks.

Honestly being wet from the rain should probably be a more impactful thing than it currently is, I can't remember a single time I thought that I should stay inside during the rain for fear of freezing. Maybe clothes staying soaked for longer, and the player having to dry them by a fire. That way spare sets are incentivised? Just spitballing random ideas, of course. 😅

It's probably something best handled by a status effect system. That is, when your character actually gets chilled down, they get slapped with a debuff that will take a bit of time to recover from. No more just lighting a fire and waiting a few seconds to warm up before going back to whatever you were doing!
