  1. Sheep can definitely parkour up two blocks. I've had them climb out of pits to try to kill me. In the json files it looks like goats, like most bears, should be able to climb 3. I haven't seen them do that but perhaps the pathfinding wasn't right in the instances I've seen (i.e. climbing out of the pit would mean going closer to me while I threw spears at them, so they didn't). Fences should block any entity. I don't believe there's anything in the game that climbs fences. A fence with a 2 block flat radius outside it should do it, maybe 3 if there's a dropoff.
  2. It's not the underground ambience or low stability noises, it's something out there behind the rock. I can go down and it gets louder until I reach a certain point, and then it starts to diminish as I go deeper. I went back to check again and it's still there at about 25-30 above the mantle. There's a grinding noise, this time mixed with occasional tapping, and I can hear a shiver too. I want to dig looking for it but am also scared to try. I haven't gotten the location of the Resonance Archives yet and I think it doesn't exist until then. I wonder if it's another type of ruins. Maybe I'll come back after I have iron chain mail. Edit: Guys, I discovered lava! I've never actually found it before. So put it under 4. Actually pretty mundane, although I think I heard a bell in there.
  3. I was digging a mine shaft and deep down started to hear a sound like millstones grinding. I did not explore it because I was wearing only leather armor and am a coward anyway. Because I am a coward, I have not visited the Resonance Archives, and have no idea about most of the horrors awaiting me in the deep. I have wiped out a corrupt locust nest and once I saw a bell for a fraction of a second (because I ran away), that is about it. I don't want to know exactly what this sound is coming from, but I am curious if: It is something that will remind me of our mortality, the uncaring disregard of the cosmos, and the pain we bring upon ourselves through our own arrogance. It is a terrifying thing that will likely result in my destruction. It is a horror beyond human or seraph understanding and beyond even the restraints of our physical realm, and attempting to discover it will only lead to despair and insanity.
  4. Let me introduce you to Progress Quest.
  5. If I wanted the devs to arm-twist me into playing the game one particular way they considered the right way, I'd go play 7 Days to Die.
  6. Crude bow was available in 1.20, just longbow and recurve bow were not.
  7. Mine was partially in the rust dimension.
  8. But I liked my quern flickering and duplicating parts like a Lovecraftian abomination. (Thanks now I can look at it without getting a headache.)
  9. I loaded up my save and it immediately froze briefly. I noticed that when it did this something flashed in the top right of the screen when things started moving again. I exited and checked the logs. I have these things at that time: server-debug.log 28.4.2026 18:28:48 [Debug] armorstand-aged attempted to play an animation code which its shape does not have: "idle" server-main.log 28.4.2026 18:28:49 [Warning] Server overloaded. Edit: Did it again, nothing looked weird in the logs except this in server-main.log: 29.4.2026 07:13:56 [Notification] Huh. Found air block in rain map at chunk pos 15966/16018. That seems invalid, will regenerate rain map 29.4.2026 07:15:14 [Warning] Server overloaded. A tick took 4904ms to complete. The aged armor stand and a a mouflon lamb earlier tried animations they didn't have, but that seemed not to be a problem.
  10. That's not really normal luck. Just make sure you have a lit torch and dirt to completely enclose yourself by nightfall. I keep inventory on death because losing my stuff is too irritating for me and I do my best to not die already.
  11. My entire quern is flashing constantly, I try not to look at it so it doesn't give me a headache. The stop stays still while a ghost top turns and z fights with the stationary top. Minor detail, I'm enjoying the patch and found copper before fall when I was afraid I would not.
  12. I'm getting a weird thing where the game runs normally and then suddenly acts like it's hanged for 15 s or so, and then goes back to normal. So far it has not crashed.
  13. I hate to leave my first world but I think there's so much changed it is better to start new. I see there's a way to download old versions. Can you install two at the same time or just the one?
  14. No, we have chicken nuggets at home.
  15. I would like more map icons, like a bear or wolf face to mark areas where they spawn, a deer head to mark spawns of herbivores, and some kind of icon to show unstable areas. I have too many X's on the map.
  16. I think if the gravel is in a biome where there is grass, it might spread, but if it's in a biome without grass, you can wait until the end of the world and grass will not spread to a dirt block placed there even if it's adjacent to 50 grass blocks in the neighboring biome. I just had to give up raising an area by covering a small patch of gravel in the middle of grass with dirt because the grass will not grow there.
  17. A sad thing is that if a biome does not already have grass growing there, grass will not spread to dirt blocks placed in that biome. So you can't introduce grasslands into a desert or gravel biome. If you find a patch of grassy dirt, don't remove it because if you do it is gone forever.
  18. Did they stay gone? Sometimes my animals vanish if I am returning from a trip away. I walk up and the pen is empty and then after a few minutes they appear. Bonus: Wolves and bears are invisible too.
  19. I think it matters if they go into a cave or you lock them in a dark room. They can be outside at night without a problem.
  20. Yes, you can use any whole blocks with material listed as Stone or Soil.
  21. Every cook knows you add the ingredients in alphabetical order.
  22. I see spyglasses or binoculars have been mentioned before. I would also like a placeable telescope. I have a tower that I like to look down upon my domain from, and a telescope would be nice for looking at the bear on the lake shore. Think of those pedestal binoculars you can find at tourist locations.
  23. I would like to have a window pane with a sill inside (or outside, you could rotate it) that I can place something on, like a cool rock or a flower pot. It would be like a shelf with only the front two shelf spaces open. Maybe to avoid floating objects if the block below isn't a full block you could have the window block have a wooden sill on the bottom so the items have something to sit on.
  24. I have only started one world in Vintage Story. Right around my spawn I found copper, bismuth, cassiterite, sphalerite, and iron. I'm also next to pine forests with probably a dozen resin trees nearby. As I've been exploring there are huge swaths of land with no ores to speak of. Other places there might be cassiterite, but you have to travel a kilometer to find copper instead of stumbling over it in the same mine. I'm scouting an area right now for a new satellite base farther south that has very poor to trace ores and was thinking I was glad I didn't spawn there. The only thing I haven't found that I would like is halite.
  25. Sleep in linen pajamas. Bronze lamellar is uncomfortable and will leave those weird lines on your skin.
