If it is a bug from 1.22.2 then your best chance of fixing it might be waiting until a hotfix happens.

Perhaps, having demonstrated the self-awareness to realize this, you can now work on exercising the restraint not to post when you don't believe you can meaningfully contribute.
Just a thought.-

Depends on what "not being able to craft" means. Im going to assume that the recipe simply doesnt work. My first (unlikely) guess is something is corrupting/breaking the crafting recipe folder. But since restarting the server seems to work, this doesnt really seem like the case. A more likely explanation would be that something in the cache is breaking it, in which case you should probably clear it, however im not sure how to do that using the host-to-internet feature, or if this would break something. Sorry i couldnt help much, and best of luck.

You might need to "port forward" your router/internet, however this process might not work and is incredibly tedious. Sorry i couldnt help much, and best of luck.

Im super duper pretty sure you can pick it up with a bucket again. Hope this helps.

How to convert a server world into a single player world?
Helst_navngivet replied to Asmodeusnim's topic in Questions
Im not sure, so take what im about to say with a moderately sized barrel of salt, but if the server owner ran the server on linux and you are on some other system like windows or mac, it might not be possible to save it. If it was a server running on the system you are using, then there is probably still hope. Looking at what you said im a bit confused as to whether the server owner sent the DATA file or the SAVE file, as it should probably work if it was the save file, as data is only used to store stuff like the things in your hotbar, backpack and other forms of metadata. If all of the above align and the systems are compatible and its the save file, then what you might be doing wrong is either A: not putting it in the right folder (VintagestoryData/Vintagestory), or B: not putting it in the right folder (save/somethingelseidk). There are a lot more people who have more experience than me regarding these sorts of things, but i hope this helps in some way. Sorry i couldnt be of much assistance, and best of luck. -
I feel sort of the same way as Rainbow Fresh. 1. i have mixed feelings about it. 2. no. 3. also mixed feelings about this one, but leaning towards no. Im generally distrustful of the google AI summary, but i might let it slide if its researched further and not just followed blindly. 4. i would say as soon as any AI is involved, or at least as soon as its used for anything that are somewhat important to the mod like models, code and music/sounds. As for "vibe-coding" and the like, thats a hard no for me. First of all, if you dont know how YOUR code works, thats a big problem if WHEN something breaks, Second of all, im not going to risk my save i have put tens or even hundreds of hours into for a mod someone used 7 hours total to "make" with a prompt moderately rephrased 20 times until the program can open without fatal errors. I think its kind of acceptable to use AI in small amounts IF YOU ARE A BEGINNER (IMPORTANT) when making a mod, but personally i would prefer 100% human made code much MUCH MUCH more than some concoction made of scraped github code repackaged by claude/chatGPT/copilot. 5. I would likely skip the mod except if AI was used to translate stuff, thats fine. tl;dr i would hugely prefer completely human made mods.

I wholeheartedly agree with this. I really REALLY REALLY want some other way of getting fireclay, preferably a more renewable one, as being restricted to flint that has to be picked up in some random forest a thousand blocks away because you have used all of the flint in your general vicinity isnt great when bloomeries are one time uses. The thing about scaling with stack size makes sense from a game balance viewpoint, as if there was no tradeoff to blasting everything at once, it wouldnt make sense to make 1 or 2 pieces of calcined flint rather than saving up to make a boatload of it, but i agree the implementation could have been better.

Sorry to bring up something like this months later, but i agree so much with this, This is pretty much my biggest gripe with valkyrien skies (minecraft) Yes, i can make a pretty car, but god forbid i try actually using it, because going up my local hill takes an hour and seven attempts. I cannot overstate how much i am longing for a voxel game with somewhat smooth terrain, comprised of something akin snowlayers to form smooth curves. Once that happens, i can finally live in peace with my (now useful) pretty car. (again, im so sorry to "necropost" like this)

Thanks, i NEEDED this!! -
NOO MY HYPERQUERN!!!!!!! in all seriousness, im very happy you guys are such a passionate dev team.

As others have pointed out, port forwarding still happens, but its typically done by a third party such as steam and friends™ Also, there are other server hosting options that you can utilise that neither require port forwarding, nor a paywall. (SOME do require you to install linux, which is something i have been forever psychologically scarred by)

I was about to say "just use a randomizer" but remembered the countless instances i have done this exact thing. I think this is actually a great idea, and would love to have it in the game!

I would love to be able to stack clay, its a pain in early game to carry around a years worth of clay in my inventory because i have no storage vessels. Same thing with flint, why the hell can i stack other stones but flint is not allowed to do that? Is the devteam stonecist?

screen flickers black every few minutes
Helst_navngivet replied to Kolyenka's topic in Bugs (archived)
This is just a guess, so take what i say with the approximate amount of salt in all the worlds oceans to the power of 38. This sounds like one of these two things: 1. your driver is incompatible/outdated with vintage story, and should be reasonably easy to fix by updating it. (only works if outdated) 2. something in vintage storys shaders are corrupted. Reinstalling should fix this, but it might be a little frustrating. 3. the very way vintage story renders everything is corrupted. Reinstalling should probably fix this. 4. its a hardware issue (very unlikely from what you described) 5. its some amalgamation of the above. I have no idea how to help with this other than the classic "reinstall" im sorry i couldnt be of much help. -
Rules on wild animals spawning near base?
Helst_navngivet replied to Byrnorthil's topic in Questions
I looked inside the files for goats, and "worldgen" is mentioned under criteria, where as "climate" and others of that type is mentioned separately. im going to assume that spawns are by some degree dictated by some fixed location, but not that they spawn in the exact same spot. They likely spawn in one or more predictated chunk(s) if all criteria are met. most importantly, there is a minimum distance from the player to allow entities to spawn, in the case of goats, this distance is min. 24 blocks. im guessing that in your case, the only viable/chosen spot to spawn in was in/around the animal pen. keep in mind im not very proficient in reading the game files, so take what i say with a huge gigantic BLOCK of salt, perhaps even a whole halite pillar. -
What is your favourite "overlooked" item?
Helst_navngivet replied to Broccoli Clock's topic in Discussion
EXACTLY!! On my first playthrough i spawned in a maple forest, and i knew i needed branches so i just destroyed the leaves, then i saw the maple seed in my inventory and went "huh, this is kinda useless" and threw it away. When i saw it spin i knew this game was special. I threw it around a bunch just because my little minecraft brain couldnt comprehend something like certain items behaving differently when dropped. (btw thanks for implementing this mechanic Tyron you're the best!!) -
i find 40% landcover gives some nice big oceans, and 20-30% upheaval rate has some big mountains while still allowing for flat plains to generate. thats for vanilla, i havent played with it, but "TerraPrety" should be a great worldgen mod. hope this helps!

Rules on wild animals spawning near base?
Helst_navngivet replied to Byrnorthil's topic in Questions
Im gonna be honest with you, i have seen other people say it and just regarded it as true, but i have experienced animals spawning in the same general area give or take 15 blocks. So no real evidence, atleast not from the games code or something like that. -
modding Question for modders: How feasible is a mod that utilizes forces?
Helst_navngivet replied to Jacsmac's topic in Questions
it should be possible, but you are probably going to lose your mind. there are mentions of something called "controlledphysics" in the game files, but i have no clue if that would work. I still think you should go for it, but dont expect it to be easy. -
How do variants of plants/animals spawn?
Helst_navngivet replied to PaperOrchid's topic in Questions
if theres any other things you would like to know about, i will gladly fish them out of the game data. Its surprisingly fun! -
that sucks. Im afraid that this is slightly beyond my knowledge of how the game functions.
