It's kind of a meta-suggestion...

I thought it would probably be a good idea to start collecting info about different kinds of ruins, so that less experienced players can get some tips on loot or hidden rooms. Please feel free to add anything you have discovered.

Does the block info mention that the crop has suffered cold damage?

Do you play on a server?

They spawn at game creation. Look for dry and warm forests. Turn your ambient sound up, you will hear them.

So I created a semi-arid world because I got annoyed by constant rain in my previous world. I got lucky and found a beautiful seed with plenty of ressources close to spawn, but the first thing I noticed was the lack of good farming soil. Almost all of the dirt blocks are low fertility. I had to gather medium fertility soil from ruins and under traders. The only world generated medium fertility soil is found in warm climate wetlands. I still haven't found a single block of terra preta and the rain forest biome with all its unique plant life seems to be completely missing from my seed. Am I just unlucky or is this by design?

Similarly, sometimes I mix up different Pigs and all of the sudden three pigs run after me instead of the other way around

So I tried to build a greenhouse, but the game does not seem to recognize it as such. It has a 7x7 field inside, solid blocks underneath. The walls are made out of cobble stone (lowest layer), a pine log frame with glass slabs. the roof has one central pine log beam, the rest are glass slabs. The whole structure is less than 7 blocks high. Where is my mistake?

Larger enclosure and troughs further away from the fence seems to do the trick.

It seems like leaded glass panes prevent the game to recognize a room as a room regarding body temperature and food preservation. While food preservation would make sense in the game setting, the body temperature mechanic should accept glass panes as part of a room IMHO. Glass blocks and glass slabs work fine.

It is completely surrounded by a fence, but they still sometimes glitch out, especially overnight or after a trip. Any ideas how to prevent this?

Since berry bushes do NOT use farmland, but ARE weather dependent ("will flower in x days, weather permitting"), do berry bushes profit from putting them in a greenhouse?

Interesting idea. But personally I would keep the world generated sea shells the way they are. I think it would be annoying to have to re-place a decorative sea shell 25 times just to get the design you want. The knapping-option is better but not very immersive.

I thought about the same thing after playing a game for 70 hours in a basalt-heavy area without finding lime or chalk. Very frustating. Luckily my new game map has spawn in a limestone area. The problem I see though is storage space. There are like 40 different types of sea shells which would clog up storage quite fast. My suggestion would be to add an item called "crushed sea shells" which can ONLY be obtained by panning sand/gravel. That would solve the lime issues many players have pretty well.

[1.14.0-9] Game changed to on-board graphics card after update
Satras replied to Satras's topic in Bugs (archived)
Restarting the game seems to have solved the issue for some reason. -
Somewhat related, I would suggest an overhaul of the wiki entry on rock generation and ore deposits because it is really hard to understand.

I like the crawling idea. I mean, Minecraft has it too...
