Sticky notes are great, and my monitor is covered in them. However, in terms of Vintage Story they're a bit too "4th wall breaking" for me, so I like to use ingame materials. Book and Quill is a great way to take notes, but I prefer a much simpler way; Chalk Board One sign, and a writable material, and you have yourself a board to note away on. I'm using Limestone as my house is built on that stuff, but Charcoal, Chalk, and even that Lapis you get from all the early game copper panning will work on a sign (Anvil required; signs need boards)

Animals shouldn't despawn in valid "rooms" even in total darkness
Never Jhonsen replied to Spyromancy's topic in Suggestions
A cave wouldn't be considered a room, no. I fully agree with OP on this as well. Valid Rooms shouldn't kill an animal. Caves can still kill animals, as caves aren't valid rooms and as such aren't in the equation here. -
I almost always forget the map file

I have to agree big time, getting that anvil changes the game from "Surviving" to "Thriving", and Thriving in Vintage Story is what I love the most about this game

Have Bones Be Able To Replace Sticks Everywhere
Never Jhonsen replied to Crysta's topic in Suggestions
I'm gonna second this. The average bone comes from pigs and smaller, and all of their bones just aren't long enough for most tools. Now, the devs COULD add in a second bone from the larger animals, one that's long enough for the other tools, but that's just more complexity for multiple systems. One could mod it however -
You can I do it a lot myself As long as you drop it into the saves folder, you can transfer your saves across computers. Do note, that each of your "saves" is actually a folder of various files, and not just one single file.

This is true in all scenarios except for one; If you have the setting enabled that allows lightning to start a fire, then there is a chance that the lightning could strike your peat, and set it ablaze. However, even if that were to happen, Peat is a very abundant resource (assuming default settings), and you can always cover your peat with a layer of packed dirt to protect it

I love the shivers, I think they are one of the coolest designs for a hostile creature. Their speed, the way they wobble when they walk, the different mouths (I love what I call the Four jaw variant), the scratching noises they make when they try to get at you through a wall. Wonderful creatures, those shivers. On that same note, I hope I never see a shiver spawn in my world.

Back in 1.13 and 1.14 I had a world where, quite a number of times I found surface tin over 8 blocks below the dirt layer. It's not common, but the surface ores can be quite a ways down.

Are Mods Checked Before People Are Able to Download Them?
Never Jhonsen replied to AlexisHearts's topic in Questions
I didn’t even click the link, but I know exactly what’s behind it If your not familar with that site Dilan, then I’d assume that you may be one of today’s lucky 10,000. -
Odd Bugs, Assuming It's Due To Updating Versions.
Never Jhonsen replied to Rex Lindsey's topic in Discussion
I have been having all these issues since 1.20.0 hit. The game runs fine if I stay in one place, but if I start loading chunks then those issues start to show, and stay relevant until I stop loading chunks; the more I load the longer it takes for things to return back to normal. I assumed it was due to only having 12GB of RAM, but I maxed myself out at 64GB DDR4 2133MHz and it didn’t change anything. The only way I’ve been able to play is on absolute minimal, with a few exceptions. My 2060 will let me max out View Distance, along with a few other GPU-intensive settings. My next finacial goal is to replace the 6th gen pentium I have and max my board out with an i7 7700, as CPU processor speed is my current bottleneck, but that’s gotta wait until I can afford that. This dragon is NOT the richest, and the USD$50-$125 that those i7 7700’s usually run for is too much to casually drop -
Same here, I also skip doing the linen bag stage And it seems we all may be in agreement that the hunter bag sucks

A Temporal Storm of a Different Kind
Never Jhonsen replied to Zippy Wonderdust's topic in Discussion
Hey I've gotten this many a times Taught myself to press 'C' and wait for time to tick through 1-minute increments before logging off so did I -
I did not know this was coming out I don’t use Discord (I don’t agree to it’s terms/conditions, and also think it just sucks to use), so a lot of these new feature leaks are locked behind closed doors. i’m excitied for a change like this will it be for all clay items, or just the ones shown?

This is the game equivalent of putting packed dirt in the building corners because "It's a cheap block, no one will see it, and it helps the room stay sealed" . .. a thing I do all the time

Finally . .. the windchime mod . .. Thank you

That makes more sense than what I was remembering. Thanks for double checking on me

I think it's 5 minutes per every 100 satiety points recovered; that's what I've heard about, but I personally haven't timed it myself. So eating a 400 satiety meal will give you 20 minutes

I would LOVE to work on the Wiki, I have the motivation in my free time for all that data entry, but even with my 4 1/2 years experience in the game I do NOT have the confidence to blindly go on there and add on what I think is true just because "that's how I remember it from playing". You and me both I would love for an offline handbook. Hell I'd want a PAPER copy of it, make it into a .PDF and I'll print it off once every major update. I do that with my off-game hobby of digital electronics all the time, printing off datasheets makes it easier to read. I love the late-game "thriving" aspects, where it's more of a homesteading game than a simple survival game. You have everything you need to survive, now it's time to actually live and enjoy the years. My main save I started with update 1.18, and the only reason I even made a new save back then is because I was told that the Chapter 1 story elements wouldn't spawn on older 1.17.X worlds. That's a good point to make. I think the average Vintage Story player also played some bit of Minecraft (And some people on here call it that "other blocky game"), and with how popular of a game that is, it's been very common to simply compare this to that game when explaining things. You are not the first vintage story beginner to have this issue, I've noticed that in other threads as well. There is no difference between the icon for clicking the mouse button, and holding the mouse button.

Shoot a windchime with an arrow, and a percentage of rust creatures in the area can turn to that instead of you. Kind of like the piston traps for Wardens in Minecraft, except temporary.

This topic comes up every now and then I still stand behind my opinion, there should be wind chimes in the game

If you find a block you aren't sure on, you can always open a creative inventory and search for it, that can tell you whether it's a real block, or one of the hundreds of "clutter blocks" that this game has. As great as the wiki is, it's purely volunteer driven, and alas doesn't have everything on it in detail

Whats the Most Mods You've Been Able to Install?

It sounds like your floor is made with slabs on the bottom half of the block. The way to fix it would be to raise the floor 1/2 a block, place them in the upper half of the space. After you fix the floor, I think you will still need to re-place the baskets; since they did not get set on a flat surface, they attached themselves to the wall, and if I'm remembering correctly that has them slightly above the block below them.

I was fully ready to believe that TUBS was real I didn't know there was a TUPS either
