  1. Hoooo boy. Just wait until you get to the Resonance Archives.
  2. Might I suggest Settlers of Cataan? >ducking for cover!<
  3. Someone made a pretty good mod that increases seed drop rates to an acceptable level for me. I plant an obscene amount of pine trees to turn into charcoal since I run 2 or 4 steel factories simultaneously. When each one takes a few stacks of charcoal for 16 ingots... weeeellll... One needs a LOT of charcoal. Plus getting an average of one.AlmostNothing larch seed per tree is very frustrating!
  4. Agreed. I love how the devs don't force a single thing on us players. It sounds like the week long carbonization would be laborious for you. It takes 5 firings to complete the process and fortunately, it doesn't resent once a firing is completed so you can load up the fuel, light it, leave it and fire the furnace up again once you return from your escapades.
  5. Once upon a not too distant past the home page described Vintage Story as an "uncompromising survival game inspired by Lovecraftian themes" (it has since been changed to eldritch). Having read Lovecraft I will say that the devs are doing an amazingly out of the world (pardon the pun) job of bringing to life a story that is very, EXTREMELY Lovecraftian. That said, Lovecraft is NOT steampunk. Lovecraft goes so far as to portray human's use turn of the century technology to undo the ill effects of extra-dimensional beings impact on the earth. Three Lovecraft stories the devs seem to have drawn inspiration from: Color out of Space The Case of Charles Dexter Ward The Shunned House All of them (plus more) are available for free here: Lovecraft's Fiction
  6. SWEET! Makes me want to use wattle and daub now.
  7. Did you chisel in bits of cobblestone? I suspect claystone cobble?
  8. Unfortunately, a bigger problem (partially solved by this) is that redwoods drop a ridiculously small number of seeds.
  9. I jive with the baroque style as that is exactly what my bank account looks like! >ducks for cover<
  10. Currently steel is end-game. Given the dev's roadmap to have steam power and powered minecarts / railtrack, I think steel will become a necessity and find its way to no worse than late-game but probably even mid-game technology.
  11. Be warned, it's a LOT of copper. But it sure does grind a LOT of stuff quickly! The windmills in this pic are maybe 20-30 blocks above sea level. Go 60 blocks above sea level to get maximum wind power.
  12. BratWorst has an excellent video on Vintage Story power. Tried getting a link, but goggle and network at work won't let me find it. It's a GREAT explanation of VS mechanical power.
  13. @Thorfinn Tyron is helping everyone learn the Freedom Units system of converting between different measurements, coz deep down he knows that Freedom Units are the way to go.
  14. There is this stuff called iron that does not require the laborious carbonization process. Just sayin'.
  15. Another reason I wish I could relocate to the RA after deactivating Murphy.
  16. Got lanterns covering the area, plus where it spawned is not covered by roofing yet.
  17. My first run through the RA was in 1.19, managed some RNG luck and squirmed my way over the pile of rubble. Descending the library in the dark was way cool and then the reveal of it after lighting the gasifier made the experience even better! I think that was a much better first experience of the library than the one intended.
  18. I have consistently seen since 1.15 (when pit kilns were introducted) that lighting multiple pit kilns may leave one that seems to extinguish when all the others complete despite being lit at the same time.
  19. @Dealman You do realize this is early access, right? Best estimate has this game at 25% complete at this point. While I agree combat can be better, there's bigger issues; like the 1.20 update having more issues than previous updates. I'll take the current combat with a more polished update than better combat and the game issues 1.20 is currently suffering. Given Tyron (until recently the sole full time developer) has recently added some help, it seems like 1.20 is showing some growing pains in bug/issue squashing.
  20. Best use of Jonas parts? Resonator and play the tunes of your choice near a rift.
  21. Some of us aren't so artistic and not good with the putting pretty things together. Chiselling at that level? I could practice for 100 years and still not be that good.
  22. It's fun playing a resonator near a rift though. Hard to do if they're invisible.
  23. updated to 1.20.10 and had to fight off a shiver that spawned during the day. Inside my home. Less than 10 blocks away from me. And no, there was no temporal storm in sight. /edit but I have temporal instability ON. Seems like random drifter spawnage during daylight hours regardless of rift activity has become an issue.
