  1. Arthur, this area of the forum has been archived so your post could be easily missed by the people that can help you. I think Vintarian Support is the one you need: Vintarian Support
  2. Can confirm no damage in 1.18.3; fixed in 1.18.4.
  3. @AnunnakiNibiru Please list any mods that you are using. Hopefully someone here can help you, but they will probably need that information. Even if the setting that Sir Key mentioned is the culprit, then it sounds like either a mod problem or a bug within the game itself since placed lights are not emitting light. That function is so essential to the game that it cannot be by design. I don't see this issue listed in the Bug Tracker (I just did a quick glance though).
  4. If you do not receive an answer here, please try in the VS discord. There is an entire area for modding and maybe your question will get more visibility there. Here is the invitation link.
  5. Wow! I may have to turn storms back on, now that I know the secrets to making a kill box.
  6. You can get a treasure map from a certain type of trader. I don't know how much info you want and don't want to spoil it... The world must have been created in 1.18, OR there are certain things you can do to put it into an existing world (detailed in one of the update posts). eta: Activate the Treasure Map (I think like a book or a scroll) which places a mark on your map or gives you directions if your worldmap is disabled.
  7. Yeah, Ashantin, Copygirl, and Saraty did some LP videos (several years ago?) but I can't remember exactly which one of them was talking about it or if it may have been in an Ashantin-only video. Anyway, Saraty had done a butterfly mod having to do with Terrafirmacraft or some such and then that was brought into VS quite some time ago. Which is why I'm thinking (but what do I know?) that increasing the variety of butterflies and making them collectible wouldn't be taking anything away from game development. Which is, I have the impression, the reason @imperialwaltz was so offended by it being in the recent update. I guess the original post just makes me kind of sad. *shrugs* Ah well.
  8. Bears do climb ladders irl though. (eta: which was a surprise to me, but google it and you'll see the videos for yourself)
  9. Beautiful build!
  10. Aren't the butterflies Saraty's thing? So it's not like adding more varieties affects game development. Personally, I enjoy seeing them around and they add a sense of normalcy and life to the world (not interested in collecting them). Their presence makes me think that flying birds could be coming. I would love to see raptors in the game!
  11. Your wording makes me think that you were holding the spear and stabbing at the fox? If so, please know that the spear is much more effective when thrown.
  12. I wonder if that would be true for bears? Since they can 'climb' a taller wall than the others, I'm thinking that a 1 block spacing might not affect them. I'd be curious to know!
  13. Was that before the default values for upheaval and landform scale were reduced in 1.18.2-rc-2? Oh, dang! Just noticed that the change only applies to "Standard Survival." @Thorfinn
  14. Yeah, it does seem more variable. It used to be pretty rare (with my custom settings) to find only 1 nugget of copper, but in 1.18 that seems to be more typical. Your observations are interesting, as I'm on a slate spawn and have found very little if anything while in slate. Further out (in limestone) was the huge surface deposit, and now that I think about it, I've only found malachite deposits so far (but I've not played very long). The regular copper was from panning. eta: I'm playing a 1.18.1 generated world from the seed of one started in an earlier 1.18 (can't remember which one)
  15. Oooo! I like the hammerstone idea! It would also make a nice replacement to breaking in-block flint by hand, assuming that mechanic still exists. I agree with Thorfinn about panning, however some players really dislike it (I'm thinking GGBeyond in his current LP. He's had a devil of a time finding copper and has been reduced to panning even though he'd really rather not). A hammerstone could provide an option that involves travel and lots of changing visuals; I can see where that could 'feel' less tedious than standing in one spot all night. Anything that helps fleshout the stoneage experience is welcome (as far as I'm concerned), as I think that aspect of the game is a bit lacking. ETA: This is a timely topic too. I'm beginning to suspect that copper drops less frequently when panning now, and I've experienced less surface copper (but also the largest batch I've ever seen). All that to say, I think we may be in for more panning than before.
  16. Welcome to Vintage Story, Skatter. What you need for the quern are whole stone blocks, not the smaller stones. Here is a video that explains:
  17. That is an interesting idea. I would like it best if the rock hammer were to be limited to hard stones, and that it could only affect stones that are actually easily crushable (such as limestone, for instance).
  18. Oh, thank you! Yes, I was talking about 1.18.2.rc-2. I don't think there would be a difference in world generation (between Wilderness and Survival), but I don't know for sure. Wilderness would be fine!
  19. Has anyone tried out the new defaults for upheaval and landform scale? I'm really curious to see if it's a noticeable improvement, but can't play for a couple of days. Would love to hear opinions/experience!
  20. I just went in to check on the bowl & pot for water: Bowl can hold 1 liter of water, which can be placed into barrel in increments. It cannot be used to fill a hole, but at least you could take advantage of trader barrels (assuming you could stand the tedium). Pot cannot pick up water. [eta: unless there is some key combo that I missed] For transporting a full block though, it would be nice if we had a ceramic vessel. I'd forgotten how much I used to enjoy staying in the stone age for awhile. If nothing else, a ceramic vessel would add ambiance and bring an extra element of immersive pleasure.
  21. Discussion and debate are great. If the goal is to make more money in order to hire more help, you've made some good points. However any other ideas/options are being disparaged as preposterous, illogical, silly, etc. or the result of some preconceived and unwarranted prejudice against Steam. I'm just asking that we discuss and debate without being disparaging.
  22. I feel like I'm at Steam. Tyron already expressed his reasoning. He may release on Steam in the future, but it doesn't fit with his plans right now. The Steam culture would devolve into an argument over it in just the way that is occurring now, here, in this thread where opposing views are being disparaged. Can we please stop?
  23. There are also some players that enjoy spending time in the stone age. From that perspective, the lack of pottery water transport (and stone hoes) seems very odd and artificially constraining. Having said that, weren't bowls given the ability to carry water? I thought perhaps pots were too. Obviously I haven't tried either one since joining the leap-frog to copper crowd.
  24. Kind of like our family irl after moving away from southern California.
