Now I'm having the strange issue of cooked fish only giving about the same satiety(?) as a bunch of berries. Seems no one else mentioned anything like this... O_o

    Hi Jesse,
It depends a lot on the type of fish and how it was processed, but a small fish (Bass or Bluegill) cooked on a firepit should be giving you 120 satiety, and many berries give you 60-80, so not a lot of difference when looking at the food bar.  A large fish (Catfish) is 480 satiety if cooked on a firepit, which would be noticeably different.

Is anyone having trouble making cordage? Three cattails in the craft window(center) doesn't yield anything for me.

I realized you need to actually install the mod in order to enjoy its features. A named, but empty, folder with the other mods won't quite get it.

lol.  Happy to hear that you've sorted this out!

It's working for me (with VS 1.14.8 and a few mods), so my first guess would be an improper mod installation or a mod conflict.  A screen shot of your mods folder, or a copy of your server-main.txt log might reveal the problem...

Yeah I saw the people mention the bug, but they failed to mention what the perk does. So for me right now I've chosen the smelting perk which uses 10% less material to fill the cast. So it shows xxx/230 metal poured. But it starts looping from 200 and i think the last number i see is 228 then goes back to 200. And indeed it dupes the metal I have in the crucible with every loop. Hope this helps. Other then that, man this is an amazing mod. I've been playing vintage for a week now, 2 days ago started a new world and included your mod in it and i absolutely love it. Thank you!

*blushing* Thanks for the kind words, and thanks again for the bug report!

I also have the bug where the mold would loop at the last bit and never fills up. I also have a xlib perk for casting metals (casting uses less metal per level).

THANK YOU!  I've had a couple other people report this issue and I couldn't nail it down, but an xlib perk might just be the clue I needed!

Heya, this is one of my favorite mods!

Would it be possible to request a compatibility patch with my mod, Lichen? ^^ I'd love to have a deer hide rug or a deer head on the wall :P

If you need me to make the models, I can do so, I just didn't want to steal your thunder

Gosh, thanks @Lich! I'd also love to have your deer rug/head added to VS, but I'm not sure about the logistics.  I'll pm you on Discord to continue the conversation.

I love this mod! But whenever I use the rock and stick trap, the dead fall my game crashes because the animal stops moving and won't die no matter how many times I hit it.

Hi @KarsT, thank you so much!  Sadly, I cannot recreate your issue and no one else has reported it.  I tested using VS version 1.14.7 and some smaller animals (hen, rabbit, piglet).  If I you could attach a copy of your server-main.txt log file that would probably tell me what's going on (in like C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Roaming\VintagestoryData\Logs)

I suspect that this is either (1) two copies of my mod installed simultaneously, or (2) a conflict with some other mod, either a mod that changes the default animal behavior (i.e. Farm Life?), or a mod that adds new animal(s).

I read something in older post about problems with bigger textures / errors in game with crashes.
In my next mod i want to use some bigger textures to add more details + replace here and there existing in-game textures with some "more recognizable" ones.

I've used 128x128 textures and haven't experienced any problems nor had any reported to me.  I am curious as to which older post you are referring to though.

Awh i was hoping the wall mounts would look the same as the floor. Thank you for the updates

I was considering that for sure, but in the end decided that heads might make for more interesting decor.

  10. New version up. Bump.

    • Could not recreate: Tin bronze/copper in a lure mold just resets and adds metal to the crucible? Sounds like server lag - thanks @Nozarati ,  @Tech_Rabbit
    • Could not recreate: disappearing fish. They will pop off the hook then just go poof before I can pick them up. Maybe ice related? - thanks @Willrun4fun

I'm running on the 1.14.8rc1 and getting a lot of disappearing fish.  They will pop off the hook then just go poof before I can pick them up.  IDK, maybe it's meant to be them getting away?

Hi Willrun4fun, Thanks for the feedback.  I'll definitely take a closer look at that and see if I can recreate it.  What *should* happen when you remove a fish is:

    • 50% of the time it goes straight into your inventory
    • 50% of the time it flies off the hook and lands somewhere nearby and typically in the water (because, you know, they're slippery!)

Because fish of the same type can stack (if they have the same'ish expiry date), it's possible that they are stacking and you're not realizing it.  Or it could be a bug too!

So I just got copper and ran into an issue, making stakes is the same recipe as making tool handles for the better weapons mod. I have no idea how to change recipes myself. Every combination of knife and stick makes stakes..  I am stuck

    Hi Avos,

Are you talking about this mod?

If so, it *looks* like @Mr1k3 may have already addressed that issue.  Please try this exact pattern:

Dear, I wanted to ask - "how to find an earthworm?" I can’t get it.

Right click to pick up sticks, flint, and rocks. Do not break them and then pick them up.  Look for sticks and flint and rocks that are sitting on dirt.  The temperature must be between 0 and 35C.  You should find lots of worms in one hour.

Okay, then I will look through textures to see what I can possibly do there. When can I contact you aside from this site?

I am SpearAndFang#6757 over on Discord.  I should have mentioned that I only mod for fun and in my spare time (and make no money from this hobby), so please don't consider this an employment opportunity.  :(

This mod is great, but not without flaws. Do you plan to improve the textures in the future? Cordage texture has random semi-transparent pixels. Fish fillet's texture is a photo, obviously too high-res for the game, same can be said about every fish except for bass. Models and textures of fish are too detailed in comparison to other mobs, I think they should be simplified to look more like the previously mentioned bass or chicks/baby hares (smallest vanilla mobs). Even earthworm item is too high-res. I'm a pixel artist, so I can actually help with textures if needed.

Thanks @Ledyanaya Sonya!  I had no plans to rework textures, but if you are willing to help out I am ALWAYS looking for people to contribute to my mods.  This stuff is very time consuming and I am not an artist, so I take a lot of shortcuts along the way!

Made a pot of 3 servings of Perch-Bluegill stew with boiled parsnip and turnip. For some reason the veggies show up but the fish base is just invisible?

Thanks @samkee00, I must have missed something when I added the perch recently.  I'll fix that up!

How am I supposed to use these "things that shall not be named" items I'm getting?

If you want ALL of the deets, I did reply to Hexedian yesterday and gave him a relatively complete run down.  The cat is officially out of the bag!

Oh, just to say, etheral block are... x-ray powered when looking through them. I don't think it is intended, but if we put some down, we can see the caves in the ground...

Yeah, I'm trying to create some translucent blocks there, but they currently have that weird side effect.  In my defense, they are still creative mode only blocks and WIP!

Is the cube not implemented yet?

      Hide contents

Placed the Relic, cube, 2 of each gear, and it said something is missing. Trying to add a mechanical part crashes the client at that point.

Eww. I'll have to see if I can replicate that crash.  But you need a little more..

    Spoiler

One of the statues goes on top of the cube

And if you're still missing a piece of the puzzle, then....

    Spoiler

Most everything required to read the book and build the altar should come from fish baskets and weir traps.  With the exception of the temporal gear.

And if you've read the book, you may be able to glean that...

    Spoiler

certain gears go with certain statues, and that you need water surrounding the base of the Hydra/Dagon altar, and dirt surrounding the base of the Cthulu altar to activate them.

I really need to make those setups a little more obvious.  :(
