I'm pretty sure that with current game mechanics, the heaviest snow cover is only like 1/3rd of a meter on top of the surface. I don't know if it gets higher in polar regions.... allowing it to accumulate up to like 3 meters over the course of a harsh winter before it starts to melt would be a big change to the game and would be cool. ...but yeah.... it's a lot more to simulate, as I said.

I think OP means they want a mod that allows snow to just keep accumulating till it's very deep. Like multiple meters deep maybe. I don't think that exists in vanilla, unless I'm missing something. I don't know of a mod that does that. I think it would likely be a big performance hog if it did exist. That's a lot to simulate. I agree it would be cool though...

nice! and yeah... RNGesus can be very cruel but also very kind in this game.

I think LadyWYT is likely right. But I also just want to say your build looks really cool!

BUMP Anyone have any more up to date information on what temporal amulets actually do? Do they serve any purpose other than just carrying a temporal gear without an inventory slot? The wiki and hand book didn't say much of anything about them last I checked.

I'm not sure there is an agreed upon, proven formula for what historical Damascus steel actually was. It's mostly known from tales that might be very exaggerated. This isn't to say I am opposed to adding it... I know of some games that include it as a pseudo magical type of metal.

have you tried summoning him with the bone flute? Maybe shut down the game, come back in, then try to summon with a bone flute.

Just some questions about what comes beyond steel
Vexxvididu replied to DitaDataDita's topic in Discussion
Tool steels are carbon steels but not all carbon steels are tool steels, yes... You didn't post anything that was wrong. I didn't mean to make you feel questioned, haha. I just wanted to express my belief that within fantasy games, the natural progression from a good steel is MAGIC!!! Also.... though it is true that many tool steels are harder and more wear resistant than plain carbon steels, they generally aren't as tough (Impact resistant). Especially the REALLY hard ones. Incorporating things like tool steels and more advanced alloys into fantasy games feels awkward to me. Which is why I'd like it if the next advancement from steel in VS was just some sort of magical alloy. (If they even want something better than steel). -

I wasn't trying to contradict or correct you, was just adding to your post and agreeing with you. The main point of my post was to say that I think the only thing that makes sense as a direct improvement over carbon steel is magical materials. -

You're correct. If you need something hard enough to hold a sharp edge but tough enough to get beaten with a hammer, a good carbon steel is hard to beat! A lot of people think titanium is stronger which isn't quite true... carbon steels are harder and hold a sharp edge much better. Titanium is just more strength to weight and corrosion resistance. Tungsten allows are actually stronger but MUCH heavier. Many materials will advertise they are X times stronger than steel, but they are not telling you what kind of steel they compare it to! Generally not a good carbon steel. ...which just means you have to get into magical substances for a big upgrade after steel! Not sure if the game wants to go that route or not. -
Use as a solvent in all sorts of chemicals.... potions would be one thing. Could also make it a component in magical lubricants for advanced machines and stuff like that. I never went into that much detail in prior posts, but have suggested vaguely such ideas. As for beehive kilns, My main frustration with them is that by the time i have iron, I've MOSTLY fired what I'd need to fire. ...other than just refractory bricks. I think a scaled down version available with lesser materials would be cool.

My biggest single pet peeve is lake ice NEVER melting unless you frequent the area.... it lingers far too long. It needs a catchup mechanic or something. I agree that elk taming should be difficult just because we don't want them to be too easy to get. Better to make the player do the Archives first. I agree alcohol is more of a gimmick than anything practical. I've previously suggested adding uses for Aqua Vitae. It needs to be a component in more stuff! I am not a fan of beehive kilns as is.... to me they take up too much resources to produce, and are mostly only useful if you need to fire A LOT of clay stuff. Many have suggested there needs to be a cheaper version and I agree. I agree that ideally most trees would lose leaves in winter but also echo what LadyWYT said about performance. Having to simulate all those updates in big forests is a potential problem. EDIT TO ADD: I forgot another big pet peeve.... plants in greenhouses shouldn't get covered with snow and sway with the wind.

Alloy Filler to melt alloy nuggets with its ingredients
Vexxvididu replied to Topminator's topic in Suggestions
This is part of what I was thinking of when I said the whole family of such requests is too much work. Yes, there are plenty of cases where you can make resources interchangeable, but every such case all together is A LOT of work for the dev's. There are thousands of items in vintage story and many cases where you should be able to use them in different combinations. In total, it's overwhelming. -

To add to this, I think it's honestly 100% fair to just open the creative menu to swap out resources that SHOULD be interchangeable but just are not due to gameplay limitations. An example would be if you have 4 malachite and 16 native copper and need the 20 bits to actually make something. -

This would be convenient, but in practice might be a bit hard to program out. It's just a lot of different combinations of stuff that has to be accounted for. I like the idea, and it should work, but I'd not count on this becoming a priority for the developers. Many good ideas are kind of limited by the combinatorial explosion problem. It's much more of an issue in VS than most other block games. -
I just want to add, use of big gears much less MULTIPLE big gears is usually a sign someone is either a real expert. ....or has no idea what they are doing. Your basic, first mechanical power setup should just be a direct connection to whatever you want to power (axles and angled gears only).

Bauxite is usually not subtle, you will often find a ton of the orange rock just exposed on the surface. But as others have said, it can be very luck based. Not much to say other than keep exploring.

huh??? you mean the rust creatures right? I didn't think animals could.
-
Just as a minor correction, the spoilage rate in a perfect cellar should never go above 0.26. If it goes higher, the cellar may have an issue (such as use of wood logs or a bad door, etc). Otherwise, you're correct.

Yeah, that's what I was driving at. their damage numbers seem lower than they should be.... though I admit I need to look more into the "tier" system.
-
if your PC can handle it, increasing your render distance might help. But yeah..... would be cool if they gave more beacon like options.

I like the falx just fine.... but in my view it needs to hit harder (especially against rot beasts and especially the steel versions) to justify the loss of range from the spear. I do like the look of the falx. I get why some don't though...

Not even sure what you mean by this given that a lot of governments have passed very well publicized anti porn legislation around requiring age verification. This includes the UK government and many US states. I'm not trying to get into the politics of it, but this is a pretty well known thing. This much is true, but doesn't contradict what I was talking about at all. I also do not trust them with personal data at all. I'm just saying government regulations are deliberately killing the golden era of easy anonymous access.
-
The thing is.... this isn't really about discord the application, it's about certain draconian legislation they have to follow. Any discord competitors will have to do the same if they get too big to fly under the radar. I don't like it, but discord isn't really the problem. Don't want to get too political here, but this is a problem with certain governments, not apps.

What do you do with silver/gold/meteoric iron?
Vexxvididu replied to ItzWalterino's topic in Questions
You do not, actually. Solder is lead and tin. EDIT: There is also silver solder, but that is optional I think?
