  1. Updated! Everybody go download the new version that could actually be called a real mod now.
  2. There should be a craftable scoreboard so people can check it 'in-character'.
  3. I think there's been a misunderstanding. I mean that regular mobs should have ranged attacks, climbing, and other interesting methods of combat/maneuvering. You can keep putting in land-based melee animals, but that's unnecessarily limited. You need more to fight, and not just during a temporal storm. And if the temporal mobs aren't crazy, then what is? The game is fairly grounded outside of the lovecraftian stuff, so that's the only design space you have to really play around in when it comes to enemies. And in order for "fear of the unknown" to mean anything, there has to be a payoff. Surface drifters simply aren't scary once you realize how easy they are to kite once you have a flint spear. Even during temporal storms, when things are at their wildest, you can just make a dirt pillar and watch everything go all weird for a while and be completely safe. There's nothing to be afraid of. Now imagine if during a temporal storm you had swarms of flying locusts descend upon your base. Horrible tentacle beasts writhing free from the earth beneath you. Complete and utter madness where no place is truly safe. That's what you expect when you hear a lovecraftian storm is approaching, not some blinking dudes you can easily ignore with no investment into a base whatsoever. EDIT: I mean come on, a voxel-based lovecraftian game is begging for some hounds of tindalos. Oh, you have a 2x2x2 doorless bunker buried deep in the earth? You thought that would save you?
  4. You make it sound like we're going to need to wear gloves when doing serious smithing.
  5. Really? I just make a flint knife and collect cattails until it breaks, which always gives me enough to make 4 baskets. At worst, maybe you make another knife? I liked Stroam's answer more.
  6. I would argue that regular hostile mobs should have those features. Temporal mobs should be extra crazy, like just flying straight over your walls to kill you.
  7. Some of this stuff is insane. Any chance we might get some of the crazier stuff included in worldgen, like the valley of shadows or the necropolis?
  8. THIS MOD IS NOW INCLUDED IN More Roads & Paths, GO DOWNLOAD THAT INSTEAD! I brought this up in another topic, but it bothers me that you can only create wooden paths with aged planks. Planks are gated behind the bronze age... but the stone path can be created potentially within seconds of starting the game and it makes you walk faster than wooden paths anyway, plus it has slabs and stairs which make it mechanically superior. But the wooden paths look nice, so I changed it so that you can create them with regular planks too. For compatibility reasons, these paths are made differently than vanilla paths. You just need 2 boards instead of 1. Version 1.1: MoreWoodenPaths1.1.zip Version 1.0: Changelog: Bugs: Compatibility issues with LazyTweaks - you can only make sticks and not wooden paths. I'm working on it.
  9. This is a pretty minor question, but it just feels weird to wear 4 backpacks at once. Why not just have a single bag slot that has more significant differences between items? You could just make a hand basket with 12 slots that costs 40 cattails instead of making 4 hand baskets for the same effect. It's not an issue or anything, I just find it a puzzling design decision. The only argument I can see for it is that you can go from 0-3-6-9-12 slots instead of straight from 0-12.
  10. The painting idea is amazing, especially if you have some sort of RGB-based mixing system so you can have full spectrums of color at your disposal. Just add in a dozen or two base paints and let people make their own blends from there.

    Villages

I always liked that lonely feeling I got from early Minecraft, so maybe having an option to spawn villages that don't have villagers and have a bunch of rotted food/rusting tools would be a nice compromise.
  12. Looting my own dead body would be pretty awesome.
  13. I get that. Then let me slather something on it to make it weatherproof, I'll take anything at this point.
  14. That still seems really excessive for what amounts to throwing some planks down on the ground. What makes aged planks walkable but pine planks not? That's the part that gets me.
  15. Do you take requests? It drives me insane that you need aged wood for wooden paths. Why? They're not even as good as the gravel paths you can make within 10 minutes of starting the game. I assume this is some kind of conscious design decision and it greatly upsets me that I need to go spelunking just so I can have a walkway around my garden.
  16. This is a minor tangent, but I agree that surface water should generally be more visible. I'd still like to be able to see into shallow waters, but right now it's nearly invisible and makes bobbing up and down on the surface a bit weird looking. I think it would be neat if cave water was still super-clear, though.
