  5. A lot of players use trees in their build for lawns, parks, and gardens. It was decided to not increase their maintenance.
  6. We have different and more people in the community than when this was first discussed. I wonder what the current community would think of it.
  7. Version 14 is not stable yet and is currently in the RC phase which stands for Release Candidate. In this phase new features are no longer introduced and all development goes towards bugfixes. As bugs get fixed the RC keeps increasing. Once a week or two has passed and the RC number hasn't incremented, meaning no one is finding obvious bugs anymore, it'll switch to stable. To back up your world go to where your VS files are stored. If windows that's usually C:\Users\{User}\AppData\Roaming\VintagestoryData. In VintagestorData there's a Saves file and a Backups file. Copy the worlds you want to save from the Saves file to the Backups file.
  8. A number of youtubers have put up drifter farms for when temporal storms hit. I suggest enabling the storms if you haven't and constructing traps similar to theirs.
  9. If you hit esc and go to settings keymapping you'll find what it is set to along with a bunch of other configurations.

  11. I too share many of his views. Alchemy is very tempting and I wrote a possible rework for the firepit back in 2018. Wow. reading back through it some great ideas badly worded.

  13. Not saying it will definitely lead to a mount but it is the only option that promises more animals. I agree. Everything in the lovecraftian update sounds amazing but transportation of livestock and possible mountable animals is sorely needed.
  14. fish, fishing, boats, oceans would be nice, but this doesn't really add much in the way of new things to do. It's more like alternative option to things that already exist. (Side Grade) Giant creatures, the first main story event, alchemy, richer ruins is very exciting and definitely adds more things that don't already have alternatives to the game. (Game Expansion) Shields, improved visual feedback, ranged mobs, tool/armor repair is needed at some point but will have a bigger impact the more mobs that are in the game. (Controversial Combat) Fruit trees, alcohol, improved meals, more animals, more crops, birds, animal leashes, pies addresses many common request for quality of life improvements. I've seen several requests for fruit trees, meal improvements, and ways to transport animals. (QoL Improvements) Water wheel, low tech windmill, brick kiln, firepit overhaul, elevators?, more mechanical power blocks, conveyor belts, etc. This will be a popular choice because there are a lot of gear heads out there. However, mechanical stuff provides solutions to remove tedious tasks from the game like hammering blooms and grinding. While there are certainly still tedious tasks in VS I don't think this will address most of those and instead add complexity to already existing mechanics. (Gearhead Magnet)
  15. Hamachi treats all people as if they were in a LAN network instead of across the internet. Since VS supports LAN and Internet I don't see why it wouldn't.

  18. It's on the wiki. I've found discord to be much more useful than the forums for modding help.
  19. The big gears are weird. I usually see people have multiple helve hammers on one anvil.
  20. Each source of light has a value. That value decreases by one for each block traveled. The blocks must share a side.
  21. Most things in the game are time based not tick based such as crops which update based on time passed since chunk was last loaded. What is the reason you want to keep a chunk loaded?
