Aresthor Posted September 4 Report Posted September 4 Hey, This thread is for everyone who wants to show their appreciation for the devs and the game and share positive experiences. Whether it is an in-game moment or the way this game has impacted your life, you are welcome to share them here. For example : Vintage Story has kept me sane during a time when I lived in my car and was only able to play on my Linux laptop during office work. It has recaptured that feeling of sheltered focus and devotion to a game, in the same way another very popular block game from Sweden (starts with "M") did in the early 2010s. Best wishes to the dev team for their very hard work over the years and to many modders for bringing awesome content to this game. I cannot wait for 1.23! 14 3 2 4
Dilan Rona Posted September 4 Report Posted September 4 Same here. A huge thank you from me to the devs, and moderators of the game. They did an amazing job. 6

axpy Posted September 4 Report Posted September 4 Vintage Story is still one of my favorite games, and I still have full trust in Anego Studios. I have lost faith in certain parts of the VS community, however... 7
Teh Pizza Lady Posted September 4 Report Posted September 4 Vintage story also used to be my favorite game. It still is, but it used to be, too. 10 3 1
quicksilvr Posted September 4 Report Posted September 4 I can only hope there isn't any malware in the next update. 4 4

As for modding, I feel as if this is the beginning of something but I'm not entirely sure though. In the end I still love Vintage Story for it's gameplay, but I just hope this isn't where the community goes downhill badly. 1
Bruno Willis Posted September 5 Report Posted September 5 I love vintage story, even if it's sometimes very slow, because it makes me think about real world chores that can be fun too. You know, you're making a pie in VS and you realize you're hungry IRL and you could actually make a pie fairly easily in real life, so you make a pie. I've been playing less and getting into the garden more, because VS constantly reminds me about how cool gardening is. I like that. 4 2
Vratislav Posted September 5 Report Posted September 5 I value Vintage Story as before, what is important for me is the gameplay experience. I am waiting for future chapters, and particularly for worldgen changes that will include rivers - I have found some very satisfying combination of worldgen mods recently, but it should be a base game for sure. . . . And.... ...It would be nice if those who want blood running respected safe space for them who do not need to see their opinions shout loud in every corner. Do not make end of the world from this, it is happening elsewhere. 9 1
Endeavour Posted September 5 Report Posted September 5 Vintage story is my favorite survival game. I just love how it makes you go through distinct eras and requires jobs and cooperation rather than making a single player able to run an entire kingdom alone. 3
Jhoryn Posted September 5 Report Posted September 5 I love Vintage Story because it lets you play exactly how you want - you are in charge, for the most part, of your experience. Want a grueling hardcore death by a thousand cuts experience? You can do that. Want to farm and fish with a non aggressive bear living in your house with you? You can do that. Want to add rideable dragons, or guns, or airships? You can do that, too. One thing I love most is the mod community. While trust has been tested recently, I understood this was a possibility because the game is so open and supportive of mods. Mod makers, and the devs, are humans. Humans make mistakes. Humans also make creative, wonderful things like mods that let me grow mushrooms, make tea, build an apiary, die of thirst, fly in an airship, die to the most frightening temporal storms (looking at you, Temporal Symphony), make friends with horses (love you, Equus), and fill my house with windchimes and lanterns (<3 xXx_Ape_xXx). While the base Vintage Story vanilla experience is amazing, I keep playing because of the mod community. So, love to Vintage Story dev team. They made a mistake. They are human. Let us learn together from this. And HUGE love to the mod community. Thank you for all your time and hard work making all these wonderful things. 5
Sparticus247 Posted September 5 Report Posted September 5 This game is exactly where I wanted Minecraft to go back when I invested in the early pre-nether alpha days. The studio is doing great work and I'm looking forward to more updates. 4
HalfAxd Posted September 5 Report Posted September 5 One of my favorite aspects of the game is how progression is not tied to skill trees or tech trees. It's tied to what you do, and each step is significant... making a big difference in game play. I love that! 3

SnapJelly Posted Tuesday at 07:10 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 07:10 PM Vintage story used to be my favorite game of all time, and it currently still is! ^^ 4

You know, sometimes saying it once is enough. It's wild how childish these fanatics are. But it's also good to see the positive side of this game that I love so much. That's whats awesome about it. The people that are human enough to embrace the humanity of a bad situation and not need to fling poo. You all know who you are and you deserve a pat on the back. CAUSE I LOVE VINTAGE STORY THIS GAME ROCKS! If im trolling you, suck it up. (not you Pizza) Edited Tuesday at 09:17 PM by OBAMFSpike 3
LadyWYT Posted Tuesday at 09:52 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 09:52 PM One thing I've come to love about the game is that the days are 48 IRL minutes long. That's enough time to log in, tinker around and have some fun, before logging back out and going back to working on chores or whatever other mundane thing I was doing previously. It's not much, but it breaks up the monotony of chores enough that I can focus a little better to get more done(although this strategy isn't foolproof either). 8
Novadegree Posted Tuesday at 11:35 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 11:35 PM I'm not going to go as far as to say "appreciation", I bought the game with the understanding they were going to keep developing it, and they have. That said, I'm sure not going to cast judgement on someone who has to try and deal with what happened when the only thing he wanted to do was make a game for us to play and have fun with. I've been playing this game for a long time and recently started using the forums (I made a mod). I'm thinking this weekend I'm going to start the process of my next play though, and after 300 to 400 hours or so, I'll start another one. I hope you all keep playing and having fun too. 2 1
Jarulf Posted Wednesday at 05:14 AM Report Posted Wednesday at 05:14 AM I love Vintage Story like I have loved only one other game, The Long Dark. The variety of game play, the atmosphere, the tedium of prospecting or building (with plaster - what was I thinking?), the joy of my first crop or finally finding cassiterite. The slow, steady progress of improving my save, the relief of seeing the lights of my base at night, after a long scary expedition. The humdrum work of tending to my base, doing nothing particularly important, just relaxing with small tasks. I love it all. 2

Actually when it is time to do chores IRL I play vintage story too. When it's night time ingame I sit my character down, walk away from my PC with headphones still on and and listen to the beautiful night time music while I do (part of) a chore, then when "groove" comes around I know it's time to get back to the game. Repeat until everything is finished. 4 1
Zaph42nd Posted Wednesday at 05:25 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 05:25 PM For me it's the pacing and early game that really drew me in, which is strange since I never was too into survival-games; however, Vintage Story strikes just the right balance between realism, sense of danger, and rewarding the player for planning ahead during the stone/copper age where resources are often scarce or time-intensive to produce/harvest. Aside from that, the chiseling system is a big draw since late game becomes less about surviving and more about maintaining supplies and building/larger projects which is also somewhat fun (albeit I find it a little less engaging than early-game). To also follow suit, time settings for seasons and default day length feel nice, I've become a big fan of 30-day months (or 24 hour months) which makes winters a lot more grueling and springs/summers feel more rewarding (however, I suspect most players don't go for that setting since 288 hours to get to a new calendar year in game is a bit much). 4
